EGTMA 'Martin's Golf Pass' Discovery by Martin's Hotels, Belgium

  • Chateau Du Lac 87 Avenue du Lac Rixensart, Région wallonne, 1332 Belgium (map)

Participate in the EGTMA 'Martin's Golf Pass' Discovery by Martin's Hotels.

EGTMA members will stay in the wooded outskirts of Brussels at the Chateau Du Lac in Genval. This upscale 5* hotel in a 19th-century style castle is across from the Genval lake and a 10-minute walk from Genval train station. It's also 12 km from Musée Hergé, the cartoonist and creator of Tintin.

During the summer of 2015, 36 Charming guest rooms were completely renovated in an Urban Chic − a combination of romantic and vintage chic − style. The use of noble materials, the castle-inspired carpets, tones at once restrained and dynamic, the modern and subtly retro furnishings … all contribute to creating a space that unites comfort with well-being. The bathrooms evoke a Zen atmosphere set against organic elements (imitation wood floor, exposed rock in the shower). High Tech Equipment (large flat screen Smart television, USB plugs, Bluetooth connection). The new Charming rooms are provided with a double canopy bed or nicely appointed ‘twins’.

Over the past months, the Martin's Hotels Group, have also added some more properties to their hotel portfolio and would like to show golf in and around their hotels. The newest property, Martin's Red Hotel, home of the Red Devils, the Belgian National Football teams  also houses their training facilities and this now brings the group offering up to 9 hotels with a total of 745 rooms.

During our visit, we will play two new courses with Mont Garni and Enghien and return to Golf de Hulencourt, one of Belgium's most prestigious venues. All these courses are easily accessible both from Brussels National Airport as Charleroi or Brussels South. Mont Garni and Enghien are located in the province of Hainaut, a former industrial and mining area, where tourism has now become one of the main contributors to the local economy.

Mont Garni, designed by Irishman Tom McAuley is a Par73 and one of the longest courses in Belgium. Laid out around a clubhouse built on Anglo-Norman remains, it meanders in and out of the hilly woodlands of Hainaut.

Enghien, a small town in the middle of the province of Hainaut now offers a full 18 hole golf course. Situated in the historic 'Parc d'Arenberg', the 18 Holes layout was designed by Belgian architect Bruno Steensels who also designed last time's venue Millennium Golf.

Hulencourt, built on historic grounds dating back to 930AD and around a historic fortified farmhouse, is owned by the Solvay family. Le Vallon, the 18-hole championship courses is designed by the French architect Jean-Manuel Rossi and has the characteristics of an 'inland links'.
